Eva Janie Bullock

Eva  Janie Bullock was born in Lake View, S.C., on December 27, 1911. Her parents were Henry Mackley “Dock” Bullock and Beadie Lou Lupo Bullock. She attended school at the old Union School in Gaddy’s Milland one year in the new Union School at Gaddy’s Mill. She graduated from Lake View High School in the 1932 class. Ms. Janie or “Ms. B” lived on the farm with her parents and was never married. She was very talented; playing the piano “by ear,” crocheting afghans for many people, embroidering, and knitting. For many years in her younger days, they would have quilting parties at their home. She always wanted to be a nurse and took care of her parents as long as they lived.
She was a lifelong member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was secretary of the WMU for 19 years. She was honored by Piney Grove in 2009 with a plaque for being the oldest member at their bicentennial celebration. She also was honored to be the Grand Marshal of the Lake View Centennial Parade in 2007.
Miss Janie is survived by her niece, Marguerite (Billy) Arnette of the home and two nieces in Savannah, Georgia, as well as many great-nieces and nephews. She had one sister, Mamie Ford, who pre-deceased her in 1964.
Her family would like to thank all her caregivers at the Pines Nursing Home where she lived the last three years of her life. Her hospice nurse, Kathy Riggan, was special to her. Memorials can be made to United Hospice of the Pee Dee, 609 South Coit Street, Florence, SC 29501 or Piney Grove Baptist Church, 152 Piney Grove Road, Lake View, SC 29563.
