James Horace Snipes

James Horace Snipes, 80, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 5:00 P.M. Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral Home.

Born in Dillon County, July 1, 1932, he was the son of the late D.C. and Mary Ann Herring Snipes.

Mr. Snipes retired from Dixiana Mills after thirty plus years of service. He was also employed as a Bon Ton sales representative for several years as well as managed several rental properties in Marion County. He worked for Cooper Funeral Home of Dillon and operated his own lawn care service for many years. Mr. Snipes was a member of Pyerian Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Vickie Lynne (Stanley, Sr.) Goodwin of Floyd Dale, Cricket (Patrick) Taylor of Florence, and Jamie Snipes of the home. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Stanley Wade, Jr. (Suzie) Goodwin of Dillon, Dana (Mack) Marsh of Floyd Dale, and Glenna Kaye Sarah Taylor of Florence. His great-granddaughters include, Annsley Lukah Goodwin, Aubrey Lynne Goodwin, and Ashton Laney Goodwin all of Dillon. He is survived by his sister, Katie Snipes Moody of Fork and his brother, Charles S. Snipes of Dillon, as well as his special friend, Hazel Horne of Dillon. In addition, Mr. Snipes is survived by his special canine companions, Sebiestian, Pepper, and Riley.

Mr. Snipes was predeceased by his wife, Reba McLellan Snipes; and siblings, Gladys Pittman, and J.T. Snipes.
