Dillon Coach Washington Named Coach of the Year

Submitted by the 2011-2012 Dillon Track Team

Bishop Tony A. Washington has been selected as Coach of the Year for the Class AA Girls Track Division for the state of South Carolina.

Coach Washington accepted the position of Head Track Coach during the 2010 school year, and the Dillon High School track team has excelled under his leadership. The girls track team won region and lower state titles in the 2010-2011 season and recently won the lower state title and Dillon’s first state track title for the 2011-2012 season, a historic achievement.

Coach Washington instills hard work, dedication, respect, and discipline into his athletes, and these ethics have helped the team accomplish many goals. Coach Washington was also an outstanding athlete who played basketball and football while he attended school at Dillon High, so he knows the importance of striving to be the best and setting high standards to achieve goals. He works diligently with the team to help push them to their full potential.

Coach Washington also dedicates his time to the community on and off the track field. He has worked as an administrative assistant at Dillon High since 2007, and is the founding pastor of Emanuel Temple Outreach Center in Dillon. He believes in hard work, dedication, and keeping god first in all things.

The Dillon Girls track team recognized Coach Washington as well as his coaching staff, Coach Gunter and Coach Gray, for all their hard work this year. “Together, they all have driven this track team to be what it is today, successful and achieving.”
