Lady Cats Shut Out Mullins, Marion

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats shut out Mullins 18-0 in four innings on Wednesday and followed up with a 20-0 shut out against Marion on Friday.

Shaquailla German pitched a no-hitter in the four-inning game against Mullins, allowing just two walks while striking out nine. Brooke Kirkland took the loss for Mullins, pitching two and one-third innings for seven hits, 13 runs, nine earned runs, and three walks.

The Wildcats started things off with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 11 in the second for a 13-0 lead. The Lady Cats brought in five more runners in the third to seal the win.

Tara Grimsley led Dillon at bat, going 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Rebecca Callahan went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs; Ma’Kayla Drake went 2-for-2 with two RBIs; and Shayna Covington went 2-for-2.

The Wildcats had 12 hits and one error in the game, while Mullins had four errors in the no-hitter.

On Friday, the Wildcats were in Marion where they picked up a 20-0 win over the Swamp Foxes. Further details had not been reported at press time.

The Wildcats are now 18-2 overall with an undefeated 8-0 record in Region 8-2A. Dillon can clinch the region title with a win over Aynor on Wednesday night. The Blue Jackets are in second with a 6-2 record, followed by Waccamaw in third and Loris in fourth.

Dillon will host Aynor on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will be on the road Friday to take on Waccamaw for their final region game of the season. The Lady Wildcats will close the regular season on Tuesday, April 24, when they take on the Class 3A Falcons in Darlington.
