Wildcats Rise in Softball Polls, Vikings Slip to Sixth Place

The most recent South Carolina softball coaches poll ranked Dillon second in Class 2A while Latta slipped to sixth in Class A.

The Lady Wildcats rose from fifth to second as they remained undefeated in the regular season. Palmetto moved to first place with a 16-2 record so far this season, with their only losses coming from Class 4A’s Byrnes in two separate tournaments.

Crescent held on to third place in Class 2A and Swansea stayed put in fourth, with Barnwell slipping from first to fifth place. Gilbert took sixth, Buford held on to seventh, and Andrew Jackson improved to eighth, while Silver Bluff and Woodruff entered the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively.

In Class A, Abbeville and Chesterfield held on to first and second place with undefeated records. Abbeville is currently 12-0. East Clarendon took third and Landrum finished fourth, while Green Sea-Floyds continued to rise from seventh to fifth place with an undefeated 6-0 record.

Latta’s Lady Vikings slipped from third to sixth after taking losses from Green Sea-Floyds and from a double header with South Florence earlier in the week.

Blacksburg slipped to seventh, and Ninety Six stayed put in eighth. Fox Creek made their first appearance in the polls in ninth with a 10-2 record, and Johnsonville slipped to tenth.
