E.J. Moody

Edward James Moody, known as “E.J.,” of Laurel Hill passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 26 after long and courageous battle with cancer.
A Fireman’s Funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Church in the Pines officiated by Rev. Dr. Gene Miller and Dr. Thomas Marshall. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
E.J. was born December 21, 1985 in Dillon, South Carolina, only child of Carolyn Hyatt Moody Newberry and the late Charles Moody. He was a graduate of Scotland High School class of 2004 and played on the Scotland High School Football Team. Before his illness, he served as a fireman with the Laurel Hill Fire Department and worked with Dollar General Store. E.J. was an avid outdoorsman, loved fire fighting, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by grandparents, Edward James Moody, Doris Moody Cooke and Christine Newberry.
E.J. is survived by his parents Carolyn Newberry and Edsel Newberry III of the home in Laurel Hill. Grandparents, Hardy and Sue Hyatt of Dillon, Betty Hyatt of Dillon, and Edsel Newberry, Jr. of Laurinburg, N.C.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
