George Arthur Shealy, Sr.

George Arthur Shealy, Sr., 95, died in Dillon, South Carolina on August 5, 2011 after a long illness.
Mr. Shealy was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Alice Floyd Shealy. He is survived by his son, George Arthur ‘Art’ Shealy, Jr. of Hamer, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Lisa S. McCaslin of Savannah, Georgia; a grandson, Major David B. Shealy, USMC, of Wilmington, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Alston Jones McCaslin VII and Mary Page McCaslin.

Mr. Shealy was born to Raymond Clement and Mary Taylor Shealy and lived most of his life in the Edmund community of Lexington County. He retired from the insurance business, having worked for Palmetto State Life and Liberty Life Insurance companies.

Mr. Shealy answered his nation’s call to service in the United States Army as a First Sergeant in the 119th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion in France and Germany during World War II.

Mr. Shealy’s funeral service will be conducted at Bethany Lutheran Church, 720 Bethany Church Road in Lexington, South Carolina at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
