DHS Wind Ensemble Gets Superior Rating At Band Festival

On Thursday March 25, the Dillon High School Wind Ensemble participated in the South Carolina Band Director’s Association’s Concert Band Festival at West Ashley High School in Charleston, South Carolina.
The band performed three prepared selections and sight read one selection. Sight reading demonstrates an assessment of the ability to play music never played before as perfect as possible on the first attempt.
There are three judges to assess the prepared selections and two judges to assess the sight reading selection. Each judge can give one of the following scores
I – Superior
II – Excellent
III – Good
IV – Fair
V – Poor
The wind ensemble received a score of I, II, II for the prepared selections and a score of I, I for the sight reading. This gave us an overall score of I or superior.
This is the first superior rating the band program has received in at least 15 years. These students have worked very hard this semester. DHS is very proud of their accomplishment and look forward to their continued development as persons of character and quality musicians.
