SCDOT Seeks Public Comment on the State Management Plan for the Office of Public Transit

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has opened the public comment period for the updated State Management Plan (SMP) related to public transit in South Carolina. The SMP was last updated in December 2007.

The SMP is a document that describes the state’s policies and procedures for administering the state-managed portions of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Sections 5310, 5311, 5316 and 5317 programs.  A state’s SMP must be updated regularly to incorporate any changes in program management or new requirements.

Each state is required to provide an opportunity for review by stakeholders when a new plan is developed or when significant revisions to the plan are made.  This draft plan updates the existing State Management Plan to apply several technical and program updates as required by FTA.

The draft plan can be accessed through the SCDOT website located at:

www.scdot.org/getting/mt_plan.shtml.  The SMP is available in alternate formats upon request.
