Do we love our children like God loves our children?

Do we love our children like God loves our children?

This is an open letter to the citizens of Dillon County. Most of us would probably answer the question, “Do we love our children like God loves our children?”, with yes. But do we? We are surrounded with a spiral of damage, hatred, ignorance, and apathy that has taken over our lives and the future of our homes, and that means our children.
There seem to be two major camps among us: the camp of despair (there’s nothing I can do) and the camp of I don’t care, (it’s not my problem.) Both of these camps are wrong. There are answers and there is hope. Even before God sent His own child, Jesus, to us, this Father had a plan. We see in the Old Testament that God would see His child grow up (nurture) and be guided (admonition.) We see that God sent His Son into a caring, faithful family in Mary and Joseph. We see that this Father watched His Son grow and developed an ever closer relationship with Him, “this is my beloved Son, I am well pleased with Him.” We see the Son take on the character of the Father and declare that He must do His Father’s will. We see the Son bring those same aspects of parenthood into human lives; teaching human parents to not bring anger to our children but to bring our children up in nurture (healthy growth) and admonition (healthy maturity.) These same principles extend into our community and greater society as we have received a Spirit of adoption from God even when we did not deserve it. All of our citizens are important. Our children are depending on us to change this community; to change the course of past histories and make a path into a brighter future.
We invite you to join us, the pastors and members of both the Dillon County Christian Ministers Alliance and Empowerment in Action Association at the steps of the Dillon County Courthouse on January 1st, 2024 at 3 p.m., rain or shine. We will gather together for special music, prayer, and messages by Judge James Lockamy and Pastor Michael Goinjs. We desire to bathe our county, its communities and its citizens in prayer. We can make this year very different. You can be a part of that. Come and love your children as God loves your children.
