Billy Bryan Pittman

Billy Bryan Pittman, 84, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 2:00-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery.
Born in Dillon County, SC, February 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Bell Moody Pittman. He served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard, and he was a rural mail carrier for 25 years along with helping his dad during this time running Pittman’s Grocery, farming, and also a dairy. He was a member of and Past Master of the Blue Lodge #142 AFM. He was awarded the 60 year pin as a Mason. Mr. Pittman was a member of Bermuda Baptist Church while growing up, and after his marriage moved his membership to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Men’s sunday school class, and Brother Hood, and also served in many different capacities of the church. He loved his family and his church family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margie Bailey Pittman of Dillon; brother, Everette Pittman (Betty) of Marion; sister-in-law, Jean Bailey of Dillon; nieces and nephews, Shannon & Ryan Berry, Keith Bailey, and Wayne Bailey, all of Dillon; Eddie & Pattie Pittman of Mullins, Marsha & Knox White of Greenville, Ed & Sloan Pittman of Marion, Lee & Preston, Alex & Quinton, and Little Marion & Justin of Greenville; many great nieces and nephews he dearly loved including Weston Bailey (Summer), Lauren Small (Justin), Cain, Nick, and Bailey Berry, and Stella Rue Small. Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roy E. Pittman; and his brother-in-law, J.W. Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Pittman, Tommy Berry, Keith Bailey, Weston Bailey, Ryan Berry, and David Jones.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, City of Dillon Fire Department, Blue Lodge #142, or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to say a special thanks to EMS, Dillon Rescue, the doctors and nurses at McLeod Dillon for the care given to Billy on Monday during his emergency. The family will be forever grateful.
