The 2nd Annual WrightStrong Cycling Fundraiser was held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Dillon.
The event was well-attended with riders and volunteers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Alabama.
The riders rode in three groups: Novice–10 miles, Intermediate–30 miles and Pro– 60 miles.
The purpose of the event was to raise funds to assist Adrian Wright, Dillon High School band director, with medical expenses. Adrian is a resident of Dillon who experienced an unfortunate crash while cycling in December 2020 that required many months of recovery and left him an above the knee amputee.
Adrian returned to cycling because of his love of the sport. His dedication and drive has inspired others.
The members of WSEC enjoy learning the sport from Adrian, while riding short and long distances weekly. WrightStrong Elite Cyclists greatest cycling achievement has been a 62-mile ride on November 5, 2022 at the Florence Pecan Festival. This is their longest ride thus far.
Anyone interested in more information should contact Cedric Page, Wright H.E.A.R.T.S. Board Chair.
