SEPTEMBER MINUTES: Dillon County Ministerial Alliance

Minutes of the Dillon County Ministerial Alliance, September 8, 2022, 5 p.m., at B&C Steakhouse, Dillon

The Alliance has a balance of 1592.38 as of 9/8/2022 including the deposit of $500 made the same day.
1. Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault: Glenda Schleich of the PDCADSA gave a report on shelter needs for Dillon County and alternatives to violence programs. This month is domestic violence awareness month. She also shared information pamphlets and signup sheets for the Coalitions golf tourney fund raiser.
2. Empowerment in Action update: Pastor Tommy Lee Pittman, Mar Hill gave a report of the Empowerment in Action group that is made up of local pastors. He exhorted the pastors to take a stand. Upcoming events are planned for September 15, Jacksonville Park, Dillon; September 29, Lake View Community Center; October 13, Riverdale Park, Riverdale; and October 27, Little Rock Park, Little Rock. There is a planning meeting at Mars Hill Bible Holiness Church on 4th Ave., Dillon, September 22 at 5pm. All are invited to come.
3. National Faith and Blue Weekend: National Faith and Blue Weekend will be October 8th in Dillon County. There will be an event in which all four law enforcement agencies in the county are participating along with nineteen churches represented to date. The event will include softball, volleyball, and other activities. T-shirts have been ordered for Law enforcement, clergy and the youth. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served. The public is invited, especially youth to interact with local police. This event is co-sponsored by the Dillon County Ministers Alliance and Empowerment in Action. The event will be hosted by Pyerian Baptist Church, 2813 Pyerian Road, Dillon, SC For more information call Pastor James Orr at 843 992 7754.
4. Location for Thanksgiving service:
The Community Thanksgiving Service will be hosted by East Dillon Baptist Church on November 20, 2022 at 6pm. The church address is 702 S. 16th Ave., Dillon, SC

3. Other business:
The Dillon Herald has requested more participation and article for inclusion in future editions. September 18 is National Back to Church week.
