Lake View Softball Team Defeats Lamar

On a cold Friday night, April 2, in Lamar, regional girl softball power house, the Lady Wild Gators of Lake View High School, defeated the Lady Silver Foxes of Lamar High School 11-5.
Wild Gator Coach Brandi Huggins has put together another top-rated region team loaded with talent at all positions.
The Lady Gators took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and jumped out front 6-0 after three innings.
The Lady Silver Foxes made a game of it in the late innings and trailed Lake View 7-5 at the top of the seventh inning. An inside- the-park grand slam by Zandasia McNeil in the top of the seventh sealed the win for the Wild Gators getting the 11-5 region win.
On the mound for the Wild Gators, Raven Locklear posted eight strikeouts with two runners to base on walks, with five runners to base on errors, and allowed five hits and five runs scored for the win.
On the mound for the Silver Foxes, Heidi Anderson posted seven strikeouts, five runners to base on errors, and allowed seven hits with eleven runs scored in the loss.
At bat for the Silver Foxes, Emmy Copeland, Maddie Doriety, Tatum Weaver, Heidi Anderson, and Gracie Blackwell had a base hit each.
At bat for the Wild Gators, Zandasia McNeil was 3 for 4 with a triple and a grand slam in-the-park home run with four RBI, Hollie Scott was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI, and Emma King was 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBI

Gators Dominate Game Against Lamar
The Wild Gators of Lake View High School traveled to Lamar Friday, April 2,for a region match-up with the Silver Foxes of Lamar High School.
The Wild Gators dominated the game on the pitcher’s mound and at bat getting a 6-0 region win. Thomas Skipper went seven innings on the mound for the Gators and nine Gator batters had one or more hits.
This is one of the best Wild Gator baseball teams I have seen in recent years and should do well when the playoffs start.
The Wild Gators took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, added two more runs in the second, and one run in the third to go up 4-0. No runs were scored in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings with Lake View adding two in the top of the seventh for the 6-0 win.
On the mound for the Wild Gators, Thomas Skipper posted 17 strikeouts, one batter to base on a walk, and allowed five hits and no runs scored for the shutout win in seven innings.
On the mound for the Silver Foxes, Hunter Watford went six innings, posted three strikeouts, one batter to base on a walk, and allowed 10 hits and six runs scored in the loss. In one inning relief, Xavier Jackson allowed a hit and a batter to base on a walk.
At bat for Lamar: Caleb Poole was 2 for 4, Tyler McMannus was 1 for 3, Kendal Windham was 1 for 3, and Ethan Hunt was 1 for 2. At bat for the Wild Gators: Chris McGill was 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI, Tucker Bass was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI, Noah Carter was 1 for 3 getting to base twice on walks, Michael McInnis was 1 for 3 with a RBI, Michael McDaniel was 1 for 4 with a RBI, Braxton Dimery was 1 for 5 with two RBI, Marquise Johnson was 1 for 3, Kason Herlong was 1 for 1, and Luke Price was 1 for 4.

Tyreik McAllister Is Key In Game
The University of Charleston of West Virginia defeated the visiting University of North Carolina Pembroke 42-24 on Saturday, March 27.
Latta High School stand-out Tyreik McAllister was on the receiving end of an 82-yard pass with 12:03 remaining in the first quarter.
(McAllister scored again in the game; however, the touchdown was called back due to a penalty. He also returned a punt for 32 yards.)
At the end of the first quarter, the game was knotted at 7 points. At halftime, the University of Charleston was trailing 10-7,
In the third quarter, the University of Charleston managed to place 21 points on the scoreboard to take a 35-24 lead. The University of Charleston added 7 points in the fourth quarter to remain unbeaten this season.

Brewer Gets Two Homeruns
Dylan Brewer, former Latta High School standout in baseball and football, connected for 2 home runs and 6 rbi in Clemson’s win against North Carolina State on Friday, April 2, in Raleigh, N.C.
Brewer connected for his first home run in the top of the first inning and picked up 2 rbi. He followed with a grand slam in the second inning for his fourth home run of the season.
Brewer is a 6″2″, 180-pound redshirt freshman due to the cancellation of the 2020 baseball season in March, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, Brewer was hitting .245 with 11 runs, 5 doubles, a homer, and 6 rbi with a .408 slugging percentage. He had 14 walks and 3 steals in the 16 games played in 2020. He started in 15 of those games, some in right field and 4 at first base.
One may recall that Brewer was instrumental in Latta High School’s state championship in his junior year.

Gators Get 16-1 Loss Over Raiders
The Lake View Wild Gators handed the visiting Hannah-Pamplico Raiders a 16-1 loss in the run-ruled 4-inning game in Lake View on Tuesday, April 6.
Lake View placed 4 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning beginning with a double by Michael MicInnis. The Wild Gators added 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning and 6 runs in the bottom of the third inning followed by 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lake View’s Noah Carter was perfect at the plate with 2 triples, a double, a single, and 3 rbi in his 4 at-bats. Luke Price connected for 2 singles and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats. Braxton Dimery had 2 singles and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats. Luke King had a single and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats. Hunter Norton had a single and a rbi in his 1 at-bat. Chris McGill had a single and a rbi in his 3 at-bats. Tucker Bass had a single and 3 rbi in his 3 at-bats. Michael McDaniel had a double and 2 rbi in his 1 at-bat. Tyler James and Marquise Johnson each had a single in each’s 2 at-bats.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Zander Poston and Avery Stone each connected for a single in 2 at-bats.
Braxton Dimery picked up the win. He pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, 1 run, struck out 9, and walked no one.
Austin Buins took the loss. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 13 runs, 14 hits, struck out 1, and walked 2. Avery Stone came in relief for 1/3 inning and allowed 1 hit, walked 4, and gave up 3 runs.
Lake View picked up 4 stolen bases in the game with Braxton Dimery collecting 2 of those.
Lake View committed only 1 error in the game while Hannah-Pamplico committed 2 errors.
Lake View will travel to Johnsonville Tuesday, April 13, for a 6:00 p.m. game.

Lady Gators Shut Out Lady Raiders
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators shut-out the visiting Hannah-Pamplico Lady Raiders 7-0 in varsity softball action played in Lake View on Tuesday, April 6.
Raven Locklear picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 hits, no runs, struck out 6, and walked 1.
Isabella Hudson was tagged with the loss.
Spivey Evans led Lake View with 2 doubles and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats while Baxleigh Arnette had 2 singles and a rbi in 4 at-bats. Zandasia McNeil had a double and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Hollie Scott had 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
Lake View is coached by Head Coach Brandy Huggins and her coaching staff.
Lake View will travel to Johnsonville Tuesday, April 13, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
