Libby’s Recipes: Apple Brownies

I dug through one of my mother’s old recipe boxes for more than a half hour tonight. I found recipes in her handwriting, my aunt’s handwriting, etc., etc., etc.
I settled on this one for this week’s column. I assume it is one of Judy’s- at least she wrote it down.

Apple Brownies
1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
1 cup sliced apples
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup self-rising flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Cream margarine with sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix together. Spread in 10×10 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
