The Dillon Area Chapter #5336 of AARP, Inc. met on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Council for the Aging with eighteen members and one guest in attendance. President Chris Harris called the meeting to order welcoming and inviting all to join in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag after which she gave a devotional.
Speaker for the afternoon, Mr. Steve Anderson with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, was introduced and gave a very informative program on the work of the NRCS in the county. Mr. Anderson spoke about the help available with erosion drainage, waste management systems, and tree farming as well as many other subjects. Questions generated by Mr. Anderson’s remarks were answered and he was thanked for his program.
During the business session, reports were made by officers and committee chairpersons. Announcements were made with adjournment following.
The next meeting will be on Monday, June 6, 2011. Please note the change in meeting date. This meeting will the social before breaking for summer, and everyone is invited to bring your favorite party refreshment and join in the fun. Anyone 50 or over, whether working or retired, is invited to join the chapter.
