Margaret S. Townsend, 85, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
Born in Dillon County, November 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. Sawyer and Mattie Irene Phillips Sawyer. She was a member of the Dillon First Baptist Church, was a volunteer for Hospice, and volunteer for St. Eugene Hospital Auxiliary. She was the widow of the late Alexander Dupre Townsend.
Survivors include her daughter, Alexa T. Grubb (Denis) of Dillon; son, Glenn F. Townsend (Patty) of Little River; sisters, Kate S. McCormick of Dillon and Jean S. Fowler (Duward) of Jonesville, NC; brother, Roy Sawyer Jr. (Ann) of Columbia; grandchildren, April M. Townsend of Little River, Ryan H. Schafer (Kelly) of Dillon, Ashley S. Hasty (Michael) of Myrtle Beach, and John W. Grubb (Leslie) of Dillon; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her infant children, Ronald, Candace, and Kim.
