At Wednesday’s meeting of the Dillon County Council, Vermelle Simmons, partnership specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau, thanked Dillon County for “raising the bar.”
She said South Carolina as a total was 23rd in the nation in the mail back rate.
She said Dillon County raised the bar 10 percentage points. Simmons said his will mean more resources for South Carolina and Dillon County. She said that the census is not finished yet and that follow-up visits and calls will continue. Simmons said the final rate is expected to be in by February or March of 2011.
“Thank you for participating,” Simmons said, “and thank you for raising the bar.”
