Four Members Of Dillon County Family Killed In Wreck In N.C. (Updated)

Four members of the Pernell family from Dillon County were killed in an automobile accident in North Carolina on Saturday. One family member was in critical condition at the time of the report.

Among those killed was the driver, Sylvester Pernell, age 30, an officer at the  Dillon County Detention Center. Also killed were  Georgia Pernell, age 55; Jamal Pernell, age 28; and Kimberly Pernell, age 21.

Annie Mae Brown, age 90, was in critical condition in North Carolina hospital.

The accident occurred on I-95 in Rocky Mount, NC.  It appears that for some reason Pernell’s SUV left the road, went into a wooded median and flipped over.

The Herald has been told that the family was attending a graduation in New Jersey.

Bartell’s Funeral Home, LLC of Dillon  is serving the family and is charge of arrangements for all four family members. Family is receiving friends at 307 Earl Street and 1406 Taylor Street, Dillon.
