Receptive Audience Enjoys Comedian’s Performance

A very receptive audience enjoyed Dillon Historic School Foundation’s presentation of “An Evening with James Stephens III, Comedian” at the Ellis Performing Arts Center in Latta on April 28th.
James is very interested in the DHSF project of restoring the J.V. Martin Auditorium to its original beauty for use by the community. James was born and reared in Dillon County. He was a star athlete, band member, and he participated in theater productions. He is a well-known comedian, impersonator, and musician and has appeared in movies and television. He is also known for providing scholarships for students in the area.
The Dillon Historic School Foundation appreciated James donating his time and efforts to make the presentation possible. He also donated laptop computers and a Firestick for the raffle.
Gerald Berry, DHSF Chairman, served as master of ceremonies for the event and began by welcoming everyone and thanking James for contributing his stage show for the evening.
The show began with performances by four young people: Byron McDaniel, dancer; Fallon Adams, singer and dancer; Michelle Snoberger, singer and guitarist; and Hannah Bethea, singer. Chairman Berry thanked these performers for sharing their talents with the audience. He also asked each one, “Why are the performing arts important to you?”
James stressed the importance of having programs available for students to develop their talents in the field of arts. Many have talents in the arts and on the athletic field.
After the show, James greeted many people who had attended and who had enjoyed a very pleasant and entertaining evening with James Stephens III.
