Wild Game Banquet Held

(NOTE: Photos to be posted soon!)

On Saturday, January 26, at 5:30 p.m., Mount Calvary Baptist Church hosted its 7th Annual Wild Game Banquet.  The Mount Calvary Baptist gymnasium and fellowship building were decorated and several trophy mounts adorned the walls.
Much preparation went into this annual event.   Several months on planning was done by members who assisted in many ways. Some harvested and caught the wild game.  Some prepared the dishes.  Some prepared the fellowship building and gymnasium for this occasion.
There was a variety of game prepared including alligator, bear, deer, rabbit, frog legs, fish, catfish stew.  There was also “tame” food, such as chicken, rice, desserts, vegetables and many other delicious dishes.
An overflow crowd filled the gymnasium where guest speaker Sgt. Jeremy Harrill entertained with stories about hunting and being a game warden.  Jeremy is the founder of a sportsman’s ministry called “Heart of a Sportsman”.  He has filmed for outdoor television shows, and most recently co-produced a turkey hunting DVD and mission project entitled Lord of the Spring.
Harrill is not a preacher.  However, he is very passionate about Jesus and enjoys sharing the gospel with others.  The gospel is the good news that the Son of God became a man, lived a perfect life, and died on a cross to pay for the sin debt of all mankind.
He arose on the third day and ascended back to heaven, after promising that He will return.  Now, God offers a free gift of eternal life to all who would repent and turn to Jesus by faith.
Sgt. Harrill reminded that this gift MUST be received in order for it to be effective and he encouraged all to surrender their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
This banquet allows the Mount Calvary congregation to minister to the community in a unique way…it demonstrates the love of God.  At the end of the night, there was a free drawing for over $600.00 of prizes including a 12-gauge shotgun for the grand prize.  Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon, where Dr. Greg Hyler has been the Senior Pastor for almost 8 years.  If you’re looking for a church, visit Mount Calvary Baptist Church where the Word is preached and people are loved and accepted.
