The Dillon Christian School Warriors were on the road on Friday night for a 61-46 loss to The King’s Academy Lions in Florence in boys basketball action.
The Lions took a 16-6 lead in the first quarter and held off a rally from the Warriors in the second to lead 31-20 at the half. The Warriors tried to close the gap in the third, outscoring the Lions 13-10, but King’s Academy outpaced Dillon Christian 20-13 in the fourth to seal the win.
Michael Minges scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Warriors in the effort, and Matthew Price added 10 points. Jake Boykin scored 9; Luke Price, 5; Jim Carr, 5; and Red Williams, 3.
Jared Zernikow earned a game-high 17 points to lead the Lions with Chase Porter adding 13 and Nick Nero earning 12 in the win. Chris van Baaren scored 7; David Porter, 5; Drew Brown, 5; and Jacob Davidson, 2.
The King’s Academy improved to 10-9 overall. The Warriors slipped to 1-16.
Dillon Christian will be at home tonight to host Marlboro Academy and on the road on Thursday to face Pee Dee Academy to wrap up the regular season.
The action begins with junior varsity girls basketball at 4:00 p.m.
