Dillon County Community Thanksgiving Service Held (with video)

By Rev. Haywood Proctor
The Dillon County Ministerial Alliance sponsored a “Community Thanksgiving Service” Sunday night November 19, 2012.
This special service began at 7:00 p.m. and almost all of the seats were filled with Dillon County citizens eager to give thanks to their God.
Rev. Greg Hyler opened the service by thanking everyone for coming out on a rainy dreary night to give thanks.  The program was well planned with a wonderful group of participants that ministered to those in attendance.
The music was provided by the “Dillon County Community Choir” directed by Mrs. Jean Smith of Lake View, SC the Director of the Lake View Community Choir.
The songs that the choir sang were a great blessing to everyone.
Dr. Richard Alderman was the “Preacher” for the hour and he delivered a powerful message on “Salvation” and the “Grace of God.”
The message was certainly well received by the congregation as God used Dr. Alderman to challenge those in attendance to draw closer to Him.
Every year the Dillon County Ministerial Alliance awards a “Distinguished Service” award to a local Dillon County minister.
The recipient of this year’s award was Dr. Richard Alderman.
Dr. Alderman’s faithful service of fifty three (53) years serving as Pastor of Little Rock Baptist was recognized.
The impact that Dr. Alderman has made on Dillon County was highlighted during this service.  Previous recipients of this “Distinguished Service” award were Rev. Archie Prevatte and Rev. Ed Frye.
This night of praise, worship and thanksgiving was truly a blessing to everyone in attendance.
