Lady Raiders Shut Out Lady Vikings

The Hannah-Pamplico Lady Raiders left Latta on Monday, May 15, with a 4-0 shut-out over the Latta Lady Vikings in varsity softball.
Although the Lady Raiders managed only 5 hits, they were successful in the 4-0 win.
The game was scoreless through 4 innings of play. In the top of the fifth inning, Katelyn Scott hit one down the right field line for a double. She stole third base. Payten Poston hit a grounder by short for a single and a rbi to place the Lady Raiders onto the scoreboard. Payten Poston stole second. Jaden Lee hit a grounder by second and a run scored. The Lady Vikings attempted to pick Lee off returning to first base. However, a passed ball allowed her to go to second. Chloe Cooper hit one up the middle allowing a run to score.
The Lady Raiders managed to get a run across home plate in the top of the seventh inning.
Kadence Poston picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, struck out 12, and allowed no runs.
Maddie Berry took the loss for Latta. She pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 2, struck out 6, and allowed 3 earned runs. Paisly Jackson came in relief and pitched 2.2 innings. She allowed 2 hits, walked no one, struck out 2, and allowed a run that was not earned.
Hannah-Pamplico did not commit an error in the game while Latta committed 6 errors. Meredith Stone had 12 chances in the field for the Lady Raiders.
Latta’s Hendley Ann McIntyre singled in 1 at-bat, and Chayse Walters singled in 3 at-bats. Katelyn Johnson garnered 2 walks in 3 plate appearances.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Jaden Lee had 2 singles, a walk, a rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 4 plate appearances. Payten Poston had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Chloe Cooper had a single and a rbi in her 4 at-bats. Katelyn Scott had a single and scored a run in her 3 at-bats.
Latta is 21-6 overall for the season.
