BAREFOOTIN’

To The Editor:
In 1966 Robert Parker wrote and performed the song “Barefootin” which was later recorded by Wilson Pickett and other artists. I can still hear the beat in my head and it never fails to make me want to take my shoes off. The sixties were also a time when going barefoot in the summer was a standard tradition. The “kick off” was usually the last day of school when parents would give the barefoot blessing to their offspring. Have you ever noticed that one of the first things a baby learns to do is take off their shoes? The body yearns to connect with the earth for good reason. Three years ago, I began to learn about “grounding” also referred to as “earthing.” I had become electrically sensitive which caused an array of symptoms and sickness. Basically, I became allergic to all things electric and all things wireless. Through education and mitigation, I learned there are thousands of other folks in this odd arena. I am not alone. (Although at times people look at me like I’ve grown three heads and seventeen eyeballs when I speak truth about their “radiating devices”. —-Yes, one can be shunned, made fun of, feel along and misunderstood). However, on a positive note and in an effort to improve my health I found that “grounding” makes me feel better overall and offers relief, specifically reducing and even stopping the ringing in my ears (tinnitus) from radiation frequencies that has begun to wreak havoc every day upon my health. (In cold weather, I learned to bring a thermos of hot water to warm the grass). I never dreamed in my retirement years that “barefootin” would have a whole new meaning and become essential for health. Earthing simply means living in contact with the earth’s natural surface charge (being grounded) which naturally discharges and prevents chronic inflammation in the body. (see Earthing by Ober, Sinatra & Zucker). Other benefits include but are not limited to: reduced stress, rapid reduction of inflammation, improved blood flow, increased energy, improved sleep, rapid reduction or elimination of chronic pain, and accelerated healing from injuries and surgery. Grounding takes place when we walk on the earth, enter a body of water or sit in a chair and place our feet on the grass or concrete. However, note that using or carrying any wireless device as we ground wipes out the benefits. I am saddened when I see children and adults wearing ear buds, smart watches, or holding cell phones close to the body at any time but especially while they exercise, or walk on an electric treadmill with Wifi. The effort to do something healthy is being sabotages as radiation always weakens the immune system. To my knowledge, the safest ear buds are air tube, just like a doctor’s stethoscope, hollow with added ferret beads, not wireless or wired. In the Court of Common Sense, please remember the radiation is penetrating the brain which may cause brain cancer (see Glioblastoma), (see “An Open Letter from Virginia Farver”, whose son passed away from GBM brain cancer). The greatest athletes in the world never had an app to stay in shape. They never needed such a thing. Fortunately, by the grace of God, and dedicated caring people providing education for safer technology, we can reduce the various health risks associated with radiation frequencies. Grounding is just one way to try to stay ahead of the game. Exercise, clean food and water, vitamins, supplements, rest, detox, and regular medical check-ups are all important. Grounding is free but for those who are not a fan of going barefoot, there are earthing shoes made from natural materials, there are also indoor grounding mats but since these are electric, I choose to go natural with the earth. A close relative recently shared that he made a grounding patch in his yard with sand, quartz crystals and copper nails, and after a few minutes of grounding, his neck pain went away. If you just want to feel better, try grounding. Glorious are the days when the soles of my feet caress dew kissed grass or walk in the warm sand of a Carolina beach for the healing of my body and I remember…….”I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalms 130:14) I surely know that there has never been or ever will be a shred of “smart” technology that can ever touch or come close to the intricate workings of creation by our amazing Lord.
