The Thomas Sumter Academy Lady Generals defeated the Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors 19-6 in junior varsity action played in Dillon on Friday, December 2.
The visiting Lady Generals jumped out to an early 7-2 lead after the first period of play and added 4 points in the second period. The Lady Warriors placed 2 points on the scoreboard in the first period of play and were held scoreless in the second period of play. Thomas Sumter Academy added 4 points each in the third and fourth periods of play while Dillon Christian School managed 2 points in each period of play.
The Lady Generals were led in scoring by Vera Fitzke who managed three 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Lucy Gore hit a 2-point basket and a free throw for 3 points while Sydnie Shaffer connected for a 3-point basket. Anna Luzzi added a 2-point basket.
The Lady Warriors’ Lillian Brunson connected for two 2-point baskets for 4 points while Kirra Cooper added a 2-point basket.

The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors will host Carolina Academy on Friday, December 9, for a 4:00 p.m. game.

The 1A Latta Lady Vikings returned home on Friday, December 2, with a 49-39 win over the 5A Conway Lady Tigers in Conway in varsity basketball action.
Latta led 15-5 after the first period of play. At halftime, Latta was up 22-13. After 3 periods of play, Latta had a 14-point lead, 35-21. Latta’s Kaliya Herman led all scorers with 15 points. She had three 3-point baskets and three 2-point baskets. Kardae McFadden added 12 points with three 2-point baskets and two 3-point baskets. Layla Hyatt had three 2-point baskets. Anziya Jones connected for two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Conway’s Dymond Bryant had two 3-point baskets, a 2-point basket, and 2 free throws for 10 points while Rebecca Hemingway had a 3-point basket, a 2-point basket, and 3 free throws for 8 points. Kiandra Green connected for three 2-point baskets for 6 points while Micah Davis had two 2-point baskets and 4 free throws. Kiandra Gree had three 2-point baskets for 6 points. Jalayla Sherman and Jahmya Dukes each had a 3-point basket. Achiya Hill added a free throw. Latta’s Head Coach is Sandra Gomillion.

The Dillon Christian School Warriors defeated the visiting Thomas Sumter Academy 34-12 in junior varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Friday, December 2.
The Warriors placed 12 points onto the scoreboard in the first period while holding the Generals scoreless. In the second period of play, the Warriors scored 5 points, and the Generals placed 2 points onto the scoreboard. In the third period of play, the Warriors scored 12 points while the Generals scored 7 points. In the final period of play, the Warriors managed to score 5 points.
Dillon Christian School Warriors’ Sean Locklear connected for two 3-point baskets and two 2-point baskets for 10 points while Joseph Waltman added 10 points on four 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Jeremiah Barnes had four 2-point baskets for 8 points, and Anthony Wilkes had three 2-point baskets for 6 points.
Thomas Sumter Academy’s Reed Dollard had 5 free throws for 5 points. Cade Blackwell, Caleb Clay, and Brayden Final each had a 2-point basket while Porter Barrineau added a free throw. Bo Stone is the head coach for Dillon Christian School. Dillon Christian School will host Carolina Academy on Tuesday, December 6, at 4:00 p.m.

The Latta Lady Vikings lost a 39-38 heartbreaker to Lee Central Lady Stallions of Bishopville on Tuesday, December 6, in Latta.
Lee Central held a slim 1-point lead, 10-9, after the first period of play. At halftime, Latta trailed 22-12. After 3 periods of play, the Lady Stallions had a 27-21 lead. In the final period of play, Latta held Lee Central to 12 points while scoring 17 of their own to close the gap to only 1 point.
Latta’s Kaliya Herman led all scorers with 18 points. She had five 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket and a free throw. Shawniza Bethea had three 3-point baskets, two 2-point baskets, and 4 free throws for 17 points. Layla Hyatt had a 2-point basket and a free throw for 3 points.
Lee Central’s Natalie Pitts had three 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and 3 free throws for 15 points to lead her team in scoring. Kiyonna Austin and Shadae Rembert each had two 2-point baskets and a free throw to add 5 points each to the scoreboard. Ke’myra Dennis had 4 points on two 2-point baskets. Mylasia Dennis had 3 free throws for 3 points. Hannah Reames had a 2-point basket.
Latta will travel to Darlington on Friday, December 9, for a 6:00 p.m. game.

The visiting Marlboro Lady Bulldogs defeated the Dillon Lady Wildcats 50-37 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, December 6.
The Lady Wildcats led 13-3 after the first period of play but did not score a point in the second quarter of play while the Lady Bulldogs pumped in 21 points to take a 24-13 lead at halftime. Marlboro led 42-27 after 3 periods of play.
In the first half of play, each team committed 3 fouls. In the second half of play Dillon committed 7 fouls while Marlboro committed 6 fouls.
Dillon’s coaching staff consists of Head Coach James McMillian and Assistant Coach Michelle Keys.
Marlboro’s coaching staff consists of Head Coach Leah Zimmerman and Assistant Coaches Hope McCall, Herbert McNeil, and Andre Quick.
Dillon will travel to Bennettsville on Friday, December 16, for a 6:00 p.m. game against Marlboro County.

The Marlboro Bulldogs defeated the Dillon Wildcats 51-26 in varsity basketball played in Dillon on Tuesday, December 6.
The Wildcats started “cold” and did not score in the first period of play while Marlboro placed 9 points onto the scoreboard. Dillon’s poor shooting continued in the second quarter before managing 6 points while Marlboro scored 17 points to take a 26-6 lead at halftime. Dillon scored 8 points in the third period while Marlboro scored 9 points.
Marlboro committed only 1 foul in the first half while Dillon committed 3 fouls.
Dillon will travel to Bennettsville on Friday, December 16, to face Marlboro County in the rematch.
