Michael Allen Strickland passed peacefully Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at McLeod Hospice House after a short battle with lung and bone cancer. Services were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Oakland Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was held 7:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Marion, SC, June 15, 1982 he was the son of Marguerite Strickland Hammonds and the late Jerry Hammonds. Michael received his GED in 2001 from Northeastern Technical College. He worked in tree work most of his work history, and his last job was for Jimmy’s Tree Company in Kingstree.
Survivors include his mother, Marguerite Hammonds of Hamer; brothers, Timothy C. Hammonds, and Jerry Wayne Hammonds (Amber Hammonds); his daughter, Kylie Strickland (Wesley Anderson); son, Michael Allen Strickland, Jr.; special lady friend, Shannon Norton; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends; special aunt, Pat (Dale) Norris and wife, Jessie Edwards Strickland.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jerry John Hammonds; grandmothers, Martha S. Berry and Annie Lee Jacobs; grandfather, Charles Jacobs; and a very special daughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Strickland.
