Quanera Hayes Participating In The Olympics

Quanera Hayes is participating in the Olympic Games.
The 29-year old mother of Demetrius started running in middle school when a coach saw her potential and invited her to the team.

She graduated from Grey’s Creek High School in 2010 and majored in English at Livingstone College of Salisbury, N.C. through 2015. She wants to return to school to become an English or special education teacher.
The 5’9″, 29-year old is participating in the 400-meter and the 4×400 meter relay. Her coach is Vincent Henderson.
The one-time Olympian of 2020 and the Olympic Games Tokyo in 2020 has world championship experience. Most recently in 2018 where she won the gold in the 4×400 meter relay.
She has participated outdoor in 2017 in the World Championships and World Relays and World Indoor Championships in 2016 and 2018. She has won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. The gold medals were won in 2018 in the 4×400 meter relay, in 2017 in the 4×400 meter relay, and in 2016 in the 4×400 meter relay. The bronze medal was won in 2016 in the 400 meter. Also, in 2016 she won the bronze medal in the 2016 World Indoor Championships.
Hayes’ father, Danny, is a resident of Dillon, S.C..
Hayes’ mother, Lesley McKenzie, resides in Hope Mills, N.C.
Quanera Hayes is a devout Christian lady who has strong beliefs. She is a good mother to her son. According to her father, she is a good “family person” who always puts family first.

On one occasion while Quanera was overseas in competition, her sister was involved in a motorcycle accident. When Quanera was notified, she immediately left the competition and returned to Dillon.
On a more recent note, about 3 months ago, while training in Florida for the Olympics, her father’s mother who resided in the Riverdale Community, became very ill. Quanera returned to Dillon to be with Family.
While in Riverdale, she resumed her training on Wilbert Street.
