The Latta Lady Vikings defeated the Andrews Yellow Jackets 70-39 in varsity basketball action played on Friday, February 12.
The Lady Vikings had doubled the scoring of the Yellow Jackets by the end of the first period of play, 24-12. At halftime Latta held a commanding 42-16 lead. The Lady Vikings held a 59-16 lead after 3 periods of play.
Latta’s Moya McDuffie had a game-high 25 points on seven 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and 5 free throws. Shawniza Bethea added 14 points on four 2-point baskets and 6 free throws. MaKayla Legette placed 10 points onto the scoreboard on three 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and a free throw.
Kardae McFadden connected for three 2-point baskets and a free throw for 7 points.
Adaya Gordon added 5 points to the score on two 2-point baskets and a free throw while Brycelin Berry connected for two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Layla Hyatt added 3 points with a 2-point basket and a free throw while Kaliya Herman garnered a 2-point basket.
Andrews’ Dayzani Hill led her team in scoring with 19 points with two 2-point baskets, four 3-point baskets, and 3 free throws. Caroline Bourne sank three 2-point baskets for 6 points and Kaitlin Michaeu placed 5 points on the scoreboard with a 3-point basket and a 2-point basket. NyAsia Brown sank two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Jonae Ward and Shaliyah Brown each sank a 2-point basket. Cynthia Davis garnered a free throw.
