The Seventh Annual Greenlawn & Magnolia Cemetery Luminary Service and Kannaday Funeral Home Remembrance Service were held Friday, December 11, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon.
The service was designed to remember our loved ones who have passed away and to provide comfort during the Holiday Season.
Due to the current health crisis (COVID-19), the service was kept short and social distancing was practiced.
Prior and following the service, people were allowed to watch a video presentation of the names of the ones who have passed away. The service opened up with a greeting from Mr. Ryan L. Kannaday, Jr. owner of Kannaday Funeral Home and Greenlawn Cemetery. Dr. Christopher H. Daniels provided the opening prayer. People who have passed away from tragic events such as mass shootings, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and from the current health crisis were recognized. First Responders such as police, fire and EMS were also recognized.
The Words of Comfort were given by Rev. Mike Rouse of Latta United Methodist Church. Rev. Rouse also read the names. Closing remarks and prayer were given by Dr. Daniels. At the end of the service, each family was given a poinsettia and all of the remainder were donated.
The luminaries were placed and lit for the families by the Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Marion Branch), Deb Fahl, Lora McInnis, and Jimmy Elliott.
