Latta Vikings To Kick Off Season On September 25th

The Latta Vikings varsity football team will kick-off the regular season of play on Friday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Kingstree under the direction of veteran head coach Brandon Iseman who has ten years of coaching experience with eight of those years as a head coach.
Although Coach Iseman did not lose any members of his coaching staff from last year, he has enlisted Curtis Love of Ohio with 27 years of coaching experience to be the OLB/QB coach of the Vikings.
This year’s team should be much improved with the experience of not only last year but also previous years.
The Vikings will also add some members of the JV team who will compete for playing time on the football field.
Every game should be a battle for the team.
Although the team lost 5 key members of the team, some from the offensive and defensive lines, the offensive line looks to be in great shape as other players filled the void. Latta may be weak in the LB positions.
Latta was fortunate to return most of the starters on offense and defense.
Conditioning always plays an important role in a team’s victories. This year was much different than previous years as everyone had to cope with Covid-19. With that being stated, the team has been present and has dealt well with the situation presented by the obstacles.
The Vikings’ record last year was 3-8.
Latta will host Lee Central (Bishopville) on October 2 and will travel to Mullins on October 9.
The Vikings will also travel to Marion on October 16 but will be at home on October 23 to face Andrews. Once again on October 30, Latta will travel to Johnsonville. The final regular game of the season will be in Cheraw on November 6.
