DCS Falls To St. John’s

The Dillon Christian School Warriors varsity football team returned home Friday, September 4, from Moncks Corner having suffered a 35-26 loss.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors placed 6 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter with 5:07 remaining on a 62-yard run by Derrick Baker. Josh Brown’s PAT was good to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
St. John’s Christian’s Hayden Redders was on the receiving end of a 68-yard pass play from Nai’ryan Bookert with 3:08 remaining in the first quarter to close the gap 7-6. Kasey Bostick’s PAT knotted the score at 7 each. With 51 seconds remaining in the first half Derrick Baker scored on a 2-yard run to give the Warriors a 13-7 lead. The PAT failed.
With only 11 seconds remaining in the first half Dwayne McCormick scored on a 35-yard pass play from Cam Sweat. The PAT failed but the Warriors enjoyed a 19-7 lead at halftime.
With 1:02 remaining in the third quarter, St. John’s Christian’s Nai’ryan completed a pass to Corey Monroe who carried the football in for a 35-yard reception. Kasey Bostick’s PAT was good to cut the Warriors’ lead to only 5 points, 19-14.
Dillon Christian School’s Hayden Hickman returned the kick-off for 70 yards to give the Warriors a 25-14 lead. Josh Brown’s PAT was good, and the Warriors were up 26-14.
The fourth quarter was controlled by the St. John’s Christian school who placed 21 points on the scoreboard.
St. John’s Bryce Taylor was on the receiving end of a 33-yard pass from Nai’ryan Bookert wtih 10:14 remaining in the game. Kasey Bostick’s PAT was good and the lead was cut to 5 points.
With 8:12 remaining in the game, Malik Waheed converted a fumble recovery into a 55-yard score. Once again, sure-footed Kasey Bostick connected for the PAT to take a 2-point lead, 28-26.
The final score of the game came with only 1:56 seconds when Nai’ryan Bookert carried the football in from the 1-yard line. Kasey Bostick converted the PAT to go up 35-26 which was the final score.
Dillon Christian School’s Derrick Baker had 171 yards rushing on 27 carries and scored 2 touchdowns.
St. John ‘s Christian’s Nai’ryan passed for 3 touchdowns and also rushed for a touchdown.
Dillon Christian School is 1-1 in conference play.
The Warriors will travel to Thomas Sumter on Friday, September 11, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
