The Dillon Christian School football teams have hit the practice fields.
It appears that this season will be quite different from last season. The varsity team consists of 22 players of which 11 are seniors.
Athletic Director/Head Coach Christian Wolfe and the coaching staff are preparing for the season opener on Friday, August 28, at 7:30 p.m. as the Warriors will host Florence Christian.
Coach Wolfe possesses 17 years of coaching experience and has served as head coach for 10 years.
Veteran Assistant Head Coach Douglas Jackson has come on board to head the defense. Joey Boykin has also returned to the coaching squad this year.
Other coaching staff members include Andrew Campbell, Brent Hardy, Michael Hayes, Nute Jackson, and Landry Collins, Stats: Matt Adams, and Manager: Ryan Floyd.
The Warriors will have to fill positions at running back and quarterback. However, the team should be okay in those positions.
The Warriors hope to be more competitive and challenge for the region championship this year.
This year the fans will see a few changes on each sides of the ball, offense and defense.
A lot of conditioning preparation occurred during the summer. Hopefully, this will carry throughout the season.
Dillon Christian School is expecting a lot from newcomer, Hayden Kickman of Lumberton, N.C. He should help complement the running attack and as a receiver.
The Warriors have good experience on the offensive line and in the wide receiver position. Faced with the smallest squad in more than 15 years, the team will have to stay healthy and injury free and be in great shape to have a great season.
As the team embarks on the season opener, the team will face many challenges throughout the season including the season opener with Florence Christian, one of the two toughest opponents this season. The other one is Carolina Academy.
Fans, be ready to support your local team, the Dillon Christian School Warriors, as the varsity football season kicks off on Friday, August 28, at 7:30 p.m.
