Selected Boys State Delegates Announced

The COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented current and potential threat to the health and safety of all Americans, including the citizens of South Carolina. It has caused significant disruption to our lives in ways we would have never thought possible. As a result, families, businesses and organizations have been forced to make decisions regarding the planning and scheduling of events involving the gathering of numerous people.
The Palmetto Boys State Committee has recommended to The American Legion South Carolina Department Executive Board that the 2020 Session of The American Legion Palmetto Boys State be cancelled.
All American Legion Post were encouraged to complete their selection process this year for the Boys who otherwise would have been able to attend Boys State at Anderson University the week of June 7-13.
This year the Boys who were selected as Delegates from their schools will not be able to attend Anderson University, but they will be considered “Selected Delegates”. These Boys will receive a “Selection Certificate”, a Palmetto Boys State shirt, and will have the opportunity to use this honor on resumes, college applications, and scholarship offers.
The American Legion Post #0032 in Dillon will also honor these young men by inviting them, their family, and their School Counselor to a Dinner which will be given on the evening of the first Thursday in February, 2021.
This is an event that we do each year to honor our future leaders.
The Selected Delegates from Dillon High School are James Avery Hewitt, Kaiden Knox Jackson, Jordan Mew and Alternate, Jacob Riley Kale.
The Selected Delegates from Latta High School are Cole A. Gasque, Chase Austin Sawyer, and Noah Micah Williams.
The Selected Delegates from Dillon Christian School are Jonathan Michael Davis and Thomas Hugh McSwain and Alternate, Joshua Avery Brown.
