The Latta Vikings varsity football team suffered a 39-0 loss to the visiting Marion Swamp Foxes on Friday, August 30.
Latta’s Tray Pelt completed 4 of 15 attempted passes for 9 yards.
Jamar Jones caught a pass for 2 yards, Phillip Davis caught 2 passes for 2 yards, and Jamario Taylor caught 1 pass for 5 yards.
The Vikings’ Tysean Johnson picked up 51 yards on 13 carries while Tray Pelt garnered 40 yards on 4 carries. Chris McRae carried 5 times for 38 yards. Gabe Sherman managed 18 yards on 3 carries. Chandler Matthews picked up 2 yards on 2 carries. Chandler Matthews led the defense for Latta with 7 tackles and 1 sack. Brice McRae added 6 tackles and 1 tfl while Caleb Bailey accounted for 5 tackles and 1 tfl. Matt Clark added 5 tackles, 2 tfl, and 1 sack. Jordan McRae had 4 tackles, 1 fr, and 1 tfl. Josh Williams had 3 tackles and 1 sack. Keon White added 4 tackles. Zach Jones had 3 tackles, and Jashad Smith had 2 tackles and 2 tfl. Gabe Sherman had 2 tackles while Darius McRae and Alex Strickland each added a tackle.
Latta will travel to Dillon on Friday, September 6, to face the Wildcats.
