The Latta Junior Varsity Lady Vikings took a double-header, 9-0 and 8-4 from East Clarendon on Thursday, April 11, in Turbeville, S.C.
In the first game, Jordan Perritt was the winning pitcher. She pitched 5 innings and allowed 1 hit, walked 3, and struck out 13.
Kayleigh Franklin was charged with the loss. She also pitched 5 innings and allowed 8 hits, allowed 9 runs of which 3 were earned, and struck out 1.
Latta’s Ragan Bethea drove in 2 runs when she connected for a triple in the first inning. Latta added a run in the top of each the second, third, and fourth innings; and added 4 runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Latta’s Ragan Bethea had a triple, a double, and 3 rbi in hier 4 at-bats. Emily Smith had 2 singles, a rbi, and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Elizabeth Brown had a double and 2 rbi in her 3 at-bats. Carolina Anderson had a single and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Averi Lovell and Breleigh Grant each had a single in 3 at-bats. Hannah Arnette scored 2 runs. Ava Rogers score a run. Blake Hatchell scored 3 runs. Jordan Perritt garnered 2 walks in her 4 plate appearances. Taryn Weatherford scored a run.
Eden Huth had a single for the lone hit for East Clarendon. Gabby Banes, Hayden White, and Ashlyn Gaskins each score a run.
East Clarendon committed 4 errors in the game while Latta did not commit an error.
In the second game, Latta jumped out to an early 3-0 before East Clarendon placed a run on the scoreboard in the second inning. Latta added 2 runs in the second inning. However, East Clarendon placed 3 runs on the scoreboard in the third inning. Latta added a run in the third, and 2 runs in the fourth inning.
Latta’s Breigh Grant earned the win. She pitched 5 innings an d allowed 3 hits, allowed 4 runs of which 1 was earned, walked no one, and struck out 3.
Hayley Hurst was charged with the loss. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 8 hits, 8 runs of which 7 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 3.
Latta’s Blake Hatchell had a triple, a single, and a walk in her 3 plate appearances. Taryn Weatherford had 2 singles, a walk, picked up a rbi and scored 2 runs in her 3 plate appearances. Breleigh Grant had a double, a single, and 2 rbi in her 2 at-bats.
Abigail Cooper had a single, a walk, and scored 2 runs in her 3 plate appearances. Hannah Arnette had a single and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Rylyn Marsh, Carolina Anderson and Jayla Jenkisn each picked up a rbi.
Elizabeth Brown scored 2 runs. Katelyn Roberts scored a run.
