Lady Wildcats Suffer Loss To Darlington

The Dillon Lady Wildcats returned home on Monday, March 25, having suffered an 8-2 loss to Darlington in varsity softball.
After scoring a run in the top of the first inning, Dillon held onto a 1-run lead until the bottom of the third inning when Darlington placed 3 runs on the scoreboard. Darlington added a run in the bottom of fifth inning and 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dillon managed to get a runner across home plate in the top of the seventh inning.
Darlington connected for 8 hits while holding Dillon to 3 hits. Darlington’s Alanya Williamson had 3 hits including a double and managed to pick up 1 rbi. Madie Andrews had 2 hits and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Sara Ellen Hanna was perfect at the plate with 2 hits in 2 at-bats.
Dillon’s Skyler McCoy connected for a home run and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Logan Grice had a hit in her 2 at-bats. Nyeisha Wilson had a hit in her 3 at-bats.
Madie Andrews was the winning pitcher. She pitched 7 innings, and allowed 3 hits, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 4.
Monazia Sowells was charged with the loss. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 10 hits, 8 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 1.
Dillon committed 4 errors in the game while Darlington committed 2 errors in the game. Dillon is 6-2 for the season and 2-1 in Region 6-3A.
