Savannah Church Signs With FDTC

Savannah Church took the next step in her softball and college career by signing with Florence-Darlington Technical College on Thursday, February 7, at the Lake View High School Media Center.
Church was surrounded by family, friends, coaches, assistant athletic director, and Principal Edison Arnette for this event in her life.
Church has been playing softball since the early age of four. She has been playing for Lake View High School for 6 years.
She should receive playing time in left field as a Florence-Darlington Technical College Stinger.
This college should be a perfect fit for her as she will be near home as she continues her education as she pursues becoming a Radiology Tech, and, of course, a career in softball at the next level.
Savannah stated, “I thank Mrs. Brandy Huggins, Lake View softball coach and assistant athletic director, for pushing me every day to be my very best on and off of the softball field. I will carry a good positive attitude to learn new things about the game of softball, and the discipline necessary to become the best I can be as a Florence- Darlington Technical College Stinger.”
Huggins recalls being named the 2016 HSSR “All Rookie Player” during her first year on the varsity level, and that it was a great honor to be recognized at the HSSR banquet in Columbia. Not only is Savannah a great softball player, she is also a cheerleader.
When not on the softball field either practicing or playing a game, she is cheering or hanging out with friends and family or spending time with her teammates.
Tonya Martin, Savannah’s mother, with a gleam in her eyes remarked, “I’m so proud of Savannah’s accomplishments on and off the field. She’s worked very hard over the years to get to this point. I’m looking forward to watching her play as a Florence- Darlington Technical College Stinger and following her dream.”

Doug, Savannah’s dad, and Mitsey Church, her step-mom stated, “We are so proud of Savannah’s accomplishments and look forward to watching her on the field and cheering her on. The next steps in life can be tough but definitely work it. Live your dream.”
Brandy Huggins, Lake View’s Head Softball Coach, Assistant Coaches James Huggins, Marsha Rogers, and Payton Bell only had great remarks for her. They all stated, “Savannah is a hard-working young lady on and off the field. She has been a part of the Wild Gator Softball program for 6 years. We all are extremely proud of her and look forward to seeing her play at the next level.”
