DHS JROTC Hosts Raider Challenge Competition

On February 9, 2019, the Dillon High School Army JROTC Wildcat Battalion hosted a Raider Challenge Competition on the Dillon High School campus.

The purpose of the Raider program is to promote esprit de corps, teamwork, and self-confidence among JROTC cadets. Raider JROTC teams from Loris, Aynor, Green Sea Floyds, and Saint James High Schools attended the competition.
Even with the cold and windy conditions, every school had cadets eager to compete in the following events: vehicle pull, litter carry, 5K run, and a modified army physical fitness test (MAPFT). The MAPFT consisted of one minute sit ups and push-ups and a one mile run. Green Sea Floyds High School won overall with Aynor coming in second and Dillon finishing third.

Dillon High School competed with a total of sixteen cadets. Cadet Isaiah Backay from the DHS team stated, “I’ve had a good day. It was enough to push me to my limit. It was fun seeing everybody give it their all even with the weather being so cold.”
Dillon High School will be competing again at Saint James High School in Murrells Inlet on March 2nd. Family and supporters are welcome to attend.
