The Latta Vikings picked up a 69-36 win over visiting Aynor in varsity basketball action on Tuesday, January 22.
Although Andrews controlled the tip-off, Latta controlled the game.
The Vikings held an 18-6 lead after the first period of play. By halftime Latta led 33-16. After 3 periods of play Latta was up 63-24.
Latta’s Darius McRae led all scorers with 22 points of which he made five 2-points baskets, three 3-point baskets, and 3 free throws. Trey Miles added 12 points to the scoreboard while J. R. McClam connected for 9 points. Nasir Sellers placed 8 points on the scoreboard for Latta. Deonte’ Stanley and Jamario Taylor each contributed 5 points. Naeem Roberts, Raheim Bowman, Brandon Page, and Kiese Blake each had 2 points in the win.
Dennis Myers led Andrews with 10 points followed by R. Kinloch with 6 points.Tyler Middleton, Tevin Tisdale, Rodney Giles, Jr., and Tyzhac Gary each had 4 points. Michael Parker also connected for a 2-point basket.
Latta committed 9 fouls in the first half, and Andrews committed 10 fouls in the first half. In the third period of play, Latta committed only 1 foul, and Andrews committed 3 fouls.
Latta will host Mullins today (Thursday, January 24).
