The Latta Lady Vikings fought throughout the game closing the gap to only 3 points but in the end lost to the visiting Mullins Lady Auctioneers on Friday, December 14, 66-56.
After the first period of play, Latta trailed 16-13. By halftime, the Mullins Lady Auctioneers had a 6-point lead.
After 3 periods of play, Mullins led 49-35.
With 4:19 remaining in the game, the Lady Vikings had cut the lead to only 6 points.
Ri’Ana Green led Latta in scoring with 29 points of which 13 were 2-pointers. Moya McDuffie placed 17 points on the scoreboard with six 2-point baskets, one 3-point basket, and 2 free throws. Rayne Nolan added 5 points, and Dasha Burdsall connected for 3 points, and Adaya Gordon connected for 2 points.
The Mullins Lady Auctioneers were led by J. Nichols with 29 points followed by J. Sindab with 18 points. J. Swinton connected for 6 points, and T. Sanders and K. James each had 4 points in the contest. K. Friday added 3 points, and A. Reed had 2 points in the win.
Each team had 7 fouls in the first half and 10 fouls in the second half.
Latta will travel to Andrews today (Tuesday, Dec. 18) for a 6:00 p.m. game.
