Lake View Town Council Minutes: December 2017

Town of Lake View Council Meeting
December 21, 2017
Presiding: Mayor Matthew Elvington
Present: Council Members: David Johnson, David Kitchens, Mertis Barnett, and Tony Hayes
Also Present: Sara Elvington, Clerk
Mayor Elvington opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. He noted for the record that the following Town Council members were present, making a quorum:
1) David Johnson
2) David Kitchens
3) Mertis Barnett
4) Tony Hayes
Mayor Elvington called the meeting to order and began with prayer. The minutes from November 16, 2017 were read. Council member Tony Hayes made the motion to accept the minutes from November 16, 2017 as presented. Council member David Kitchens seconded the motion and all those present voted in favor.
The clerk read a very nice Thank you card to Mayor and Council form Mr. & Mrs. Townsend, thanking them for the plaque, roses and the honor of representing the town as Grand Marshals at the 2017 Christmas Parade.
The next item on the agenda was Mr. Preston Abraham was concerned over some debris being burned. Mr. Preston did not attend the meeting as he had prior requested o speak, but did talk with the Mayor and did want his concern addressed. A copy of the Ordinance on burning debris was given to the party Mr. Preston had referred to, when speaking to the Mayor.
Next item on the agenda was trash pickup. There seems to be a lot of areas being missed with yard debris and polycarts. This has been addressed with AWS, several times. Many citizens complaining that their polycarts are broke and on further observation it seems to be caused by the trucks picking up the polycarts. Mr. Harold Utley is interested in giving shag dance lessons this has been a great interest for him. He has not yet been able to get others involved.
The Town has purchased a 2013 Ford Taurus for the Police Department.
Mayor and council discussed the need to begin the work on the Recreational ball field, as there is a lot of work to be done, also looking into grants to help with the cost.
Mr. McIntyre is working on the new computers for the police cars, for the e-tickets beginning in January 2018.
Mayor and Council were proud of the new business opening their doors on Main Street, Diamonds ā€œNā€ the Ruff. they plan to be fully stocked by the first of the year. We pray for their great success, we know they will be a great addition to the town.
Mayor Elvington has a lot of business meetings lined up and reminded council of some of the upcoming dates.
