Loyd Nelson Snipes

Loyd Nelson Snipes, 70, died November 22, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice House of the Pee Dee.  Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m.. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Pyerian Baptist Church with burial at Pyerian Baptist Church Cemetary.  Visitation washeld from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon.  
Mr. Snipes was born in Dillon County, SC on July 7, 1945, the son of the late Loyd Snipes and Vera Lee Byrd Snipes.  He played high school football and baseball all four years of high school for the Latta Red Raiders.  After graduating from high school he served his country by joining the Army National Guard from 1965-1971.  He then worked at Dupont for 36 years and farmed throughout his entire life.  During Mr. Snipes’ career as a supervisor at Dupont, he received an Excellence in Engineering Award presented to him in Wilmington, Delaware.  He was also recognized for perfect attendance for over 25 years at Dupont.   No matter if he was working at Dupont, the farm or in his garden, he always gave 110%.  He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and PaPa.   His grandchildren were his pride and joy.  Mr. Snipes’ greatest pleasure was taking care of his family and always wanted to make sure that everybody else was happy.   
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Brumble Snipes of the home; son, Loyd Nelson Snipes, Jr (Joy) of Marion, SC; daughter, Jennifer Gail Snipes Brigman of Floyd Dale, SC; grandchildren, Michael Brandon Brigman and Cody Ray Snipes; brothers Willie Snipes (Nancy) of Dillon, SC; Harold Snipes (Jean) of Sellers, SC; sister Vonnie Lee of Dillon, SC; and lots of nieces, nephews and special friends.  He was predeceased by his brothers Jerry Wayne Snipes and Robert Snipes.   
Memorials can be made to the McLeod Hospice House, 1203 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC or a gift of Gideon Bibles can be made.
