Historic Trees/Historic Places Project Discussed At Glove And Trowel Meeting

The Glove and Trowel Garden Club met Wednesday, October 8, at the home of Julia McLaurin with 18 members present.  President Fay Sloan called the meeting to order and thanked our hostess for the wonderful refreshments.  The Collect was then read in unison and birthday greetings were given to Julie Hatcher and Patricia Page.
Secretary, Jamie Sue Stephens, called the roll and then read the minutes from the last meeting after which Treasurer, Ditto Jenkins, gave her report.
Natalie Wallace reported on the progress being made on the “Historic Trees/Historic Places” project and reminded members that the deadline for submitting a tree was November 1.
Natalie Wallace and Jeanne McLaurin will chair the Holiday Goodness Fundraiser to be held November 22 at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.  Handouts were given to all the members and a work schedule was passed around for members to sign up for a work time.
Marilyn Zunk and Julie LeChette will chair the Christmas Social to be held at the St. Barnabas’ Parish House on December 9.  A menu sheet was passed around for members to sign up for a covered dish. Their committee will be meeting in the near future to make the final plans for the social
At this time the meeting was adjourned and turned over to Linda Dutton who had arranged for us to travel to the Carolina Community and tour the home of Bo and Patti McInnis.  The house was built in 1878 by Mr. Bishop Parrish and is located on the Dillon County – Marlboro County line and the Little Pee Dee River.  Club members enjoyed touring the beautifully restored home and hearing the interesting stories about the house.
