Voter Turnout Was Disappointing

Dear Editor:
It is so sad and very disappointing to see such a light turnout in the Dillon County Primary Election. Only 20 percent of the voters registered in Dillon County voted.
The people of Dillon County should take a long hard look at the decisions that are being made by their representatives and understand that voting is the way the people of Dillon County get to say what gets done or undone.
Everyone is affected by the outcome of an election and a primary election is just as important as a general. If you didn’t vote in the primary don’t be disappointed if your candidate is not on the ballot in November.
Remember, your candidate needed your vote in the primary to make to the November ballot. Voting is a not just your right, it is a privilege, your choice is your voice.
The rest of the nation (government, businesses, tourists, future residents) view us through our chosen representatives and the decisions they make. Who you vote for will be the face and the voice the rest of the world sees, so know your candidates. What type of experience are they bringing to the job, how have they handled their business and their finances, what life choices have they made?
Because after the election is over they will be the ones making the decisions that will impact your life and your children’s lives for years to come.
Throw away your excuses and get out and VOTE!
