Latta Council Appoints Town Attorney
The Latta Town Council decided at their January meeting to continue with A. Glenn Greene, Jr. as their town attorney. Motion was made by Councilman Trudy Drawhorn with a second by Councilman James Reaves. The vote was unanimous.

Latta Town Council Votes To Continue With Clerk/Treasurer
The Latta Town Council decided at their January meeting to continue their one-year agreement with Clerk/Treasurer Joe Powell for another year. The motion was made by Councilman Trudy Drawhorn with a second by Councilman Abbott Shelley. The vote was unanimous.

Dillon County Council Approves Proposed Waste Disposal Agreement
At a recent meeting of the Dillon County Council, the waste disposal agreement between Dillon County and Lee County Landfill was discussed. Attorney Ken Dubose explained that the current agreement will expire on Dec. 31, 2016. He said that staff recommends council approve the proposed agreement which will extend it for an other 15 years, changing the pricing slightly and some of the nomenclature. Councilman Harold Moody made comments and also recommended council approve this. Councilman Bobby Moody made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by Councilman Rand Goings. All voted in favor.

Officers Recognized For Work On 1033 Program
Latta Town Councilman Jarett Taylor recognized Officers Derrick Cartwright and Kevin Daniels at the January meeting of the Latta Town Council. He recognized them for their outstanding performance and the time and effort they have put into the 1033 program. Among the things that have been acquired are a $950,000 surveillance system, night scopes, spike strips, generators, extrication tools for the fire department, and several pieces of rolling equipment. The officers were presented with gift certificates.  Mayor Earl Bullard commended the officers because it will benefit and improve the town. Councilwoman Lutherine Williams and Councilman James Reaves also praised the officers.

County Council To Hold Called Meeting
The Dillon County Council will hold a called meeting on Tuesday, March 18th at 10 a.m.  The purpose is to receive the FY 2012-2013 audit report from Chris Clark and also to discuss the FY 2014-2015 budget.
