The 8U Dillon Darlings claimed a 12-11 win over Latta on Thursday night to claim the state title.
Dillon and Latta began the title game on Wednesday night and were tied 11-11 when the game was delayed by the weather. The game resumed on Thursday night with Dillon getting the winning run to claim the state title.
The Dillon Darlings will move on to the 2013 Dixie Darlings World Series in Alexandria, Louisiana. They are scheduled to face Boger City, the state champs from North Carolina, in the first round of the tournament.
In the 12U Dixie Ponytails division, Latta finished as the state runner-up after falling 7-1 to Hanahan in the state title game on Wednesday, July 17.
Hanahan will advance to the Ponytails Traditional World Series in Beaufort County, where they will face the state championship team from Tennessee in the first round.
