On Thursday, January 5th, Dillon Christian hosted their first annual Alumni Panel at the school.
The purpose of the event was to have recent graduates of the school come back to campus and to share college experiences with the seniors so that they may be better prepared for the transition when they graduate.
With virtually the entire senior class being accepted into numerous colleges across the Southeast, Head of School Brian Fitzgerald felt that it was important to begin this tradition for the benefit of the students.
“Over the years many of my former students have come back to visit and I have heard them talk about how they wish that they had known this detail or that someone would have shared this fact with them, so who better to relate the pertinent information to them?
Carole Lewis, our College Counselor, does an excellent job with advising and our faculty is superior with preparing the students academically, but we were all in agreement that this would be another added benefit for a college preparatory institution such as Dillon Christian School.
As adults, we can provide the information to the students, but many times it is not until they hear it from a former classmate that it truly sinks in so that it is useful.”
In addition to the Alumni Panel, Dillon Christian will also be hosting several other events in the near future that will specifically focus on college preparation and future planning for high school age students.
