David Harris, 64, went home to be with our Lord on October 28, 2011, surrounded by family and friends after a prolonged illness.
He was born in Dillon County on August 12, 1947. He was the son of the late Edgar Harris and the late Kathleen W. Harris of Graham, N.C.
He was a member of Pyerian Baptist Church in Floyd Dale, S.C. where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for the Young Adult Men’s Class for several years. He retired from Smurfit Stone Container after many years of faithful service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Ruby Harris of Floyd Dale; his daughters, Sherry (William) Fuehrer of North Augusta, S.C., Maria (Willie) McCormick of Floyd Dale, S.C., Donna (Greg) Lewis of Mullins, S.C. Amy (Darrel) Bracey of Floyd Dale, S.C., and Priscilla (Daryl) Hardwick of Floyd Dale, S.C.; 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Wayne Harris and Edgar Harris and Sister, Kate Galyean all of Burlington, N.C. and his k-9 companion, “Floppiee” of the residence.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tommy Harris.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday October 31, 2011 in Pyerian Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation is 7-9 Sunday in the funeral home.
