Baseball and Softball Players Named All-State, North/South All-Stars

The North-South team rosters and all-state baseball and softball teams were announced this past week, with several players from Dillon County honored.

Lake View’s Zack Allen was named to the Class A all-state team, while Dillon’s Jamie Callahan made the Class 2A list.

Class A Player of the Year was Randon Sandifier of Bamberg-Ehrhardt, with Coach of the Year Billy Keels of Lewisville. Class AA Player of the Year was Brett Hines of Hanahan, with JD Goodwin of Broome taking Coach of the year honors. Brooks Shumate of Sumter took Coach of the Year All Classes.

The North/South All-Star baseball games will be held at Myrtle Beach beginning June 15. The roster was not available at press time.

In Class A softball, Lake View’s Avonlea Cooke and Chessie Miller were each named all-state, along with East Clarendon’s Sheila Tomlinson, Alexus Watford, and Kristan McElveen and Johnsonville’s Rachel Cribb.

In Class 2A, Dillon’s Shaquailla German was named all state along with Cheraw’s Tiffany Chapman.

The North/South All-Star softball game will be played at USC Aiken beginning June 14. Lake View’s Chessie Miller and Avonlea Cooke, and Latta’s Charise Braddy have been selected to play for the South in the Class A/4A game.

In the Class 2A/3A softball game, Dillon’s Chelsey Wallace and Marlboro County’s Kayla Wright will play for the South. Dillon’s Shirl Carter will be assistant coach for the game.
